Great Season for the St. John the Baptist Soccer Teams!  Over 125 players from the SJB Parish and School competed this year on 11 different teams.  Thank you to all the parents and friends of SJB Soccer that volunteered their time!  Thank you to Kevin Treble who took all the Team Photos!  Thanks to all the parents who got their players to practice and to games!

7th-8th Grade Boys:

Congratulations to the 7th and 8th Grade Boys Soccer Team who are the CYO Silver Division Champions!

The team had a terrific season, with only one loss.  The team persevered in the championship game to come from behind to tie the game and then win in a shoot-out.  This is the team's second playoff championship win in the last three years.

Congratulations to Coach Cunningham & Coach Fashina and all of the boys on the team: Sagan Banderas, Emmanuel Cadet, Conner Cunningham, Doyin Fashina, Lev Gawdiak, Ryan Gottshall, Eddie Iannone, Billy Madden, Matthew Malits, Aran Mazariegos, Jordan Rundlett, Kenny Walker, Aidan Wholihan, and Luka Yetter.

The 7th  - 8th Grade boys also participated in the Holy Redeemer Veteran’s Weekend Soccer Tournament, and won 5 games in one day to win that Tournament!

5th – 6th Grade Boys:

Strong season this year under the guidance of Allan Brown.  Team finished the season 3-4-1 and made it to the playoffs.

3rd – 4th Grade Girls:

This team consisted of players from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades this year because of the new CYO Age Rules.  Allison Barry and Ronke Fashina served as Team Captains, and the girls went undefeated, with only 1 tie!  Coached by Tom Gardner, Ginger Slaughter and Ed McCormack we look forward to next season for this team, when they get the opportunity to play in the playoffs for a championship!

3rd – 4th Grade Boys:

Our largest team with 20 boys playing this year on the 8 v 8 Boys Team.  Thanks to Jimmy Carr and Ted Tuel for their team management skills, and more importantly for a great season. The boys went 4-2-1 on the season, and we look forward to a strong team combining with the fifth graders in 2014 to compete in the playoffs for a championship.

2nd Grade Girls:

This team consisted of our 2nd grade girls, and a few 1st grade girls who played up so that we had enough players.  Great season by our girls, and although the CYO does not track the scores or the games, we know you all won those games!  Thanks to Mike Malloy and Pat O’Hara who served as our coaches this year.

2nd Grade Boys:

Excellent effort put forth by the 2nd grade boys each week.  With a small team who typically went each game with only 2 subs, the boys showed tremendous improvement in each game, against some very tough competition.  Carl Brady and Lynn Margiotta led the team this year, with some assistance from Kevin Barry and Derek Cunningham.  We look forward to seeing the 2nd grade boys joining the 3rd graders next year to make an awesome team!

1st Grade Co-ed Team:

Fresh out of Little Feet, the 1st graders competed for the first time against other parishes in the CYO.  Fantastic Season for this team of boys and girls.  Thanks to Steve Hazelton, Colleen Ionata, and Jeff Vinson who lead our co-ed teams to strong performances.  We will need all of these players back in 2014 when the teams are split up by gender.

Little Feet:

Congratulations to all of our Kindergarten and Pre-K soccer players who competed this year in our Little Feet program.  The 30 players had games on Saturday Morning in September and October.  Tremendous improvement was made each week, and we look forward to watching these rising stars in the SJB Soccer Program.  Special thanks go to Brianne Murphy, Mary Murphy, and the other members of the Murphy family who run the program for us!  We could not do it without them.

It is not too early to start thinking about soccer in 2014!  Registration will take place through Sports Pilot between April 27 – June 4th

We need all players that are interested in playing to register during this time, so that we can meet the CYO Team Registration Deadline of July 1.  Thanks for your cooperation!
